In the city of Shostka, located in the Sumy region, workers from the municipal service took a bag containing 6,000 euros to the dump, mistakenly believing it was souvenir "money." This was reported by the local publication Shostka.INFO.
According to journalists from their sources, on January 16, while cleaning up waste in the central part of the city, the municipal workers discovered a bag filled with euro banknotes. However, doubting their own eyes, they concluded that it was merely souvenir currency, and thus transported the bag along with other trash to the landfill.
Shortly after, the owner of the bag came forward, revealing that it contained 6,000 real euros. The man contacted the municipal workers, who advised him on where to search for his lost item.
"In the end, the man went to the dump, where he successfully found his bag with 6,000 euros after rummaging through the garbage. It is said that he gifted the honest municipal workers 1,000 UAH each as a token of gratitude," the publication states.
Journalists reached out to the local police, but they reported that no claims regarding the lost bag of money had been filed with them.
