The police reported a suspicion against a passenger in a BMW vehicle involved in a fatal traffic accident on December 1 in Dnipro.
The Dnipropetrovsk region police stated that the actions of the underage passenger were classified under part 3 of Article 136 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - failure to assist a person in a life-threatening condition.
The driver of the vehicle was a local resident born in 2005, and investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under part 2 of Article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles).
Law enforcement officials have established the route of the BMW leading up to the fatal accident and have included video recordings from surveillance cameras in the case. A number of expert examinations have also been appointed, including a molecular-genetic analysis.
Investigators have submitted a petition to the court for the suspect to be placed in custody. The driver faces imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years, along with a prohibition on driving vehicles.
Fatal Accident in Dnipro
As reported by UNIAN, on the evening of December 1, a BMW collided with a Ford in Dnipro. The police noted that at the moment of the collision, the driver of the second vehicle was making a maneuver to turn around.
Disturbing videos and photos from the accident scene have circulated online. Subsequently, law enforcement reported the death of a 10-year-old child who was in the Ford. Two adults and two children were hospitalized.
