1A traffic accident occurred in Vinnytsia. A driver in a Mercedes hit two young women who were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.
This was reported by the communication department of the Vinnytsia police. It is noted that the injured were hospitalized with bodily injuries.
"Preliminary information indicates that on January 16 at about 16:20, on Teatralna Street, a 22-year-old driver of a Mercedes ran over two girls who were crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing," law enforcement officials stated.
Subsequently, the police informed that the driver of the Mercedes, who hit the two girls, has been detained. He will remain in temporary detention until a preventive measure is chosen.
An investigation has been initiated under part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles by persons managing vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The man faces up to 8 years in prison.
Investigators are preparing materials to notify the driver of the suspicion and to determine a preventive measure for him.

On January 11 in Kyiv, a serious traffic accident occurred on the Stolichne Highway. A minivan collided with a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus. As a result of the accident, two people died, and there were injuries. Among the injured were children.
The day before, a car and a passenger bus collided in Lviv region. As a result of that accident, at least seven people were injured – the driver of the car and six passengers of the bus sustained bodily injuries and were taken to medical facilities.
